warm up and heal in Thompson, CT
available from November through March, for groups, couples, or individuals
Inspired by the timeless Finnish sauna culture and Nordic tradition, we created a welcoming forest retreat on a pond in Thompson, CT, where warmth and wellness thrive in harmony with nature. Embrace tradition, community connection, healing, and a peaceful experience.
Book a private session for a place all to yourself—or, a community session where you’re open to sharing the sauna and cold plunge with new friends.
A lot of people love the Finnish sauna experience for its numerous benefits! The combination of heat and chill from the cold plunge in the river or tub, improves cardiovascular health and relieves physical pain. Studies show that it improves immune function, stress relief, and sleep, too.

Your attendant, Gary, will walk you through everything you need to know to enjoy your sauna experience. Arrive with your swimsuit and towel, and we’ll have the wood stove warming so you can ladle water onto the stones and enjoy soothing steam.

Relax in the heat for 10–20 minutes. As you sit on your towel, sweat and dry heat releases impurities and triggers healthy, physiological responses. Pour water on the hot stones, feel the steam roll up.

Listen to your body for when it's time to step outside to cool down or take a cold plunge. Allow your body time to adjust, rehydrate with water (2–4 glasses recommended), and repeat the cycle as desired—listening to your body throughout.
Gary is your sauna guide preparing the sauna’s wood stove, cold plunge, and making sure your sauna experience is the best. Gary, along with his wife Marcia, and dog Dakota, are the founders of Frog Hollow Cabin, the home base for the saunas. We offer sauna rentals in our forest at Frog Hollow from November through March, or enjoy the mobile sauna on your property during the spring, summer, or fall months.
